Pre-liminary College Magazine Front Cover

The image above is a mock up magazine. I created this magazine by solely using Adobe Photoshop and my camera to create this piece. This image's layout is fairly clear and plain which makes it far simpler for my audience to read and understand it. I took three different images, and chose this one to be my main background image. Originally I had taken an image from the school website, but realised that this was incorrect, so therefore had to recreate the background. My background image is my main image, but it is also one of a variety of images on the screen. The main image is of a boy in the school, which has seemed to cover his face with his hand, so that influences the viewers to pick up the magazine because they want to identify the student. The finger also points to the title, making the readers follow the finger to the title, and all around the front cover.

My main teaser on my magazine mock-up is the sticker on the page. The sticker states “New school Uniform? Latest updates on school decisions”. When the reader see’s this they will quickly want to read the magazine, because most students are concerned with changes in the school, especially those who care about the appearance or have pride within it.

I used a variety of colours to grab the reader’s attention. The colours i used consisted of black, white, yellow and red. Yellow and Red are two harmonious colours which often grab many mammals and human’s attention.

I have used a barcode to show that even though our magazine is a school magazine, it still has some professional qualities. I also made the price very bold, because students are very unlikely to purchase a school magazine, but if they saw it was free it may persuade them to actually buy it.

I used eye-catching headings and titles so that it may influence the reader to read more, as it shows concerns regarding the student’s of Bishop Channoler catholic colligate.

If I could improve my magazine, I would incorporate many more Adobe Photoshop skills, and make the magazine look more professional and use much more professional fonts, images, layouts and colours.
